I was snorkeling for about 2 hours and the next day developed a soar throat that got worse and lasted for over a week. I read it was from mouth breathing. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening while snorkeling?

Why would you want to do that when you can stay in the water and enjoy the marine life? Going up and down for breath would tire you out very quickly and take away from the experience.
